Advanced Training Program

Advanced Training Program Overview

The ATP is designed to offer a higher degree of training to our Recreational players that have the desire to improve their level of individual technical skill. The program was a great success in 2011-2012, is being expanded for the 2012-2013 season and will be open to any Recreational player that has the desire. Offering the best opportunities to our children requires an appropriate learning environment of enjoyable intensity where they can learn to master the technical aspects of the game.

The program emphasizes technical skills and functional training. Players will also be given skill ‘homework’ each week to do in their own time. The Advanced Training Program schedule is separate from Recreational soccer which will allow players to be involved in both if they wish. There are 2 separate 10 week programs in the ATP – one 10 week program runs during the fall season and one 10 week program runs during the spring season. Players have the option of doing either or both. Sessions are conducted on Friday evenings 6.00pm-7.00pm by staff coaches/trainers and the program is overseen by the Director of Recreation

The program typically follows Curriculum Phase I Introduction to the Game: Ages 6/7/8/9 (U7/U8/U9/U10) and Phase II Basic Training: Ages 10/11/12 (U11/U12/U13)
“A coach must be conscious that it is not the result, but the enjoyment of the game that is essential”..............................Rinus Michels FIFA Coach of the Century
